Also running in the race for PJ was Dana Clark, placing 35th in the race. Clark, only a freshman, had an impressive season running a 22:09 on Saturday. The freshman is having an impressive season and it seems that her future will be a bright one.

Port Stunned by Poughkeepsie, Lose 4th Straight

Agonizing Defeat at Glennette Field

Sept. 30th, Port Jervis, NY - Harry Tomasi Reporting  - The Port Jervis Raiders were shocked Friday night as they lost their fourth straight football game at home to Poughkeepsie.  With a final score of 22-14, the loss drops the Raiders record to 1-4, with three critical games remaining.

Port Jervis worked hard throughout the game.  The defense was stellar giving up only a touchdown and several times making clutch stops to force Poughkeepsie to kick the ball away.

The Raider offense through the first three quarters looked good.  Rabelle Sheppard led the team with two touchdowns and 100 yards rushing.

However it was the fumbles by the Raiders, two in the redzone, that cost them the game.  Twice Port coughed up the ball, and twice the Pioneers returned Raider fumbles for touchdowns.

In the end there was little Port could do as Poughkeepsie controlled the ball and the clock for the last four minutes of the game.

This game was one the Raiders wanted to win. Even with this loss they aren't out of the playoffs yet.  Wins in their final two games of the season against Monticello and Wallkill will get Port into the Section IX Class A playoffs.

Up next, the Raiders will be home Saturday, hosting the Minisink Valley Warriors for Homecoming.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 pm, at Glennette Field, on the grounds of the Port Jervis Middle School.
