Raiders Begin Tough Invitational Schedule with Race at Bear Mountain

September 17, 2016, Bear Mountain, NY - On a cool Saturday morning the Port Jervis Cross Country team took part in the Bear Mountain Invitational.  One of the largest races in the region, the Bear Mountain Invitational hosts over 2000 runners.

Events began early, with the JV race starting before 9:00 am.  Port Jervis was led by Hunter Misczuk with a time of (19:01), and Ben Straebler (21:43).  Their scores helped earn the Raiders 35th place in a contest with over 350 runners.  The JV Raiders average time was 21:38.24. 

The varsity race started nearly an hour and a half later.   The Raiders best performances were from Christian Deal (18:24) and Raven Aumick (18:33). The boys varsity team finished 13th place overall with an average time of 19:33:02.

Not to be outdone, Port’s lady Raiders posted impressive times in their portion of the invitational.  Senior Kaylah Quarshie finishing 12th in her race with a time of (20:02) and Dana Clarke clocked in at (22:40).

Overall it was a good day for Port’s runners and had many positive outtakes. Up next, the Runnin’ Raiders take their show on the road to Bowdoin Park, Wappinger's Falls, NY.  Bowdoin Park is home to many important races, including the New York State Cross Country Federation Championships.
