ASK Assistant Principal Nicole Ey leads by example
March 24, 2017 - ASK, Port Jervis, NY
Nicole Ey, Assistant Principal at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School
(ASK), has been named the 2017 New York State Elementary
Assistant Principal of the Year by the School Administrators
Association of New York State (SAANYS) and the National
Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). This award
is given annually to a school administrator who excels at
leadership, commitment, and action.
“Nicole Ey is a leader we are proud to call our own. Nicole
takes pride in the fact that when she has an idea, she not only
puts that idea into motion, but also stands alongside with
others to see it through.” Said Port Jervis City School District
Superintendent Thomas M. Bongiovi.
Nicole Ey has been assistant principal at ASK since 2012. During
her tenure she has developed and implemented many new
educational initiatives and programs. Most notable, Ey developed
the “Outdoor Learning Classroom”, transforming an unused
courtyard into a beautiful, interactive outdoor learning
classroom. She’s also developed a building-wide incentive plan
to improve behavior. This strategy has seen immediate success,
with improved attendance and morale.
Ey has her Administrative Certificate from C.W. Post/Long Island
University, Master’s Degree in Special Education from Mount
Saint Mary College, and Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Oswego. She
is a proud Port Jervis High School alum, graduating in 1998.
A state-wide awards reception and ceremony is planned in the
Albany region for early May.
